"What has Yaju been up to?"
For the past few years, I've worked across every layer of the social impact ecosystem (in-house, agency, nonprofit, and independent) bringing operational range and strategic depth to all of the fights I care about. As a digital communications strategist and campaign operator with over five years of experience building campaigns, systems, and capacity, here are a few of the projects at the heart of labor rights, responsible technology, racial justice, and global advocacy I've been proud to work on.

SEIU HCII: Winning Victories for Child Care Workers
I've been embedded in SEIU HCII's digital organizing infrastructure since 2024, supporting the campaign to build power for child care workers across Illinois fighting for better wages and working conditions. My work spans bilingual email, SMS, and social media campaigns mobilizing thousands of members out of more than 91,000 workers. The most thrilling moments have been full of developing rapid-response social content and materials for rallies, petitions, and emergency mobilizations — and even moving WhatsApp organizing strategy from scratch, hitting the membership goal within the first three months. The communications work I've been part of has supported real contract wins including a 6% rate increase, the first-ever paid time off in contract history, and raises for 3,000 child care workers in Chicago.

Gen Z For Change: AI, Immigration, and Writing for Our Generation
What’s more fun than pitching ideas and writing for Gen Z for Change, one of the largest Gen Z advocacy organizations in the country, with a combined audience of 150,000+ followers across their English and Spanish pages? My focus is on tech and AI, migration, and intersectional topics across labor, climate, and reproductive justice translating complex policy into content that actually resonates with a Gen Z audience.

Village of Wisdom: Elevating Black Genius
Communications support? Email strategy? Full ecosystem research? I'm there and I'm there with an audit understanding nonprofit email audiences with a magnifying glass. For Village of Wisdom, a nonprofit that exists to affirm and protect the inherent genius of Black children and communities, I conducted a 19-page audit analyzing list health, content performance, and audience behavior, then translated those findings into a full 2026 Email Strategy Playbook. The playbook covers a 12-month editorial calendar, sequential campaign framework, A/B testing roadmap, and audience segmentation strategy targeting parents and educators.

The Solidarity Center: Uniting the World's Workers
I served as digital consultant and global storytelling correspondent for the Solidarity Center, the largest U.S.-based international worker rights organization operating across 60+ countries. I led social media strategy, built content calendars, and produced visual assets and written stories coordinating across 20+ international offices. Working with teams on the ground, I collected interviews and footage from local communities covering union elections, political imprisonments, landmark legal victories, and the organizing that rarely makes international headlines. In the Philippines, I developed content on six simultaneous campaigns across union votes, wage theft protests, and LGBTQ+ worker rights. In Nigeria, I covered a government raid on the national labor congress and a $70M healthcare win driven by union advocacy. In Bangladesh, I wrote the anniversary statement demanding justice for a murdered union leader. In Brazil, I covered gig workers organizing against algorithmic wage suppression. In Cambodia, I covered both the moment a court upheld a union leader's unjust prison sentence — and the moment she was finally freed. Across 21 countries, this was some of the most meaningful and complex content work I've done.

Greenpeace USA: Tech Accountability and Protecting Democracy for People & the Planet
I joined Greenpeace as a content strategist on their tech accountability campaigns and produced community storytelling videos and front-of-camera social media content, writing scripts for spokespeople including Jane Fonda and James Cromwell, and leading social strategy exposing Big Tech's environmental harm. Within six months, I was promoted to serve as social media strategist on "Greenpeace On Trial," the organization's legal defense against a $300M+ SLAPP suit brought by Energy Transfer. I coordinated messaging alongside 400+ coalition partners, managed influencer partnerships from outreach through contract close, and produced all campaign content in lockstep with legal, field, and communications teams.
